Engagement Session Locations

Kensington Metropark, Milford: Perfect for outdoor lovers with lush greenery, trails, and even a beach vibe if you want a playful, barefoot moment on the sand.

Indian Springs Metropark, White Lake: If you love nature but prefer to skip the beach, Indian Springs offers stunning scenery with one area in particular that I lovingly refer to as the ‘Tree of Life.’ It's surrounded by a beautiful low stone wall. It's a gorgeous spot all summer through mid fall. The golden hour here is breathtaking!

Belle Isle, Detroit: For those who love a mix of historic elegance and natural beauty. .Belle Isle has it all! From the newly restored Belle Isle Casino that features gorgeous Arched Colonnades, the Belle Isle Beach, Outdoor Golf Garden, weeping willow trees spread throughout the acreage, Detroit river views, and of course the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory (14-day notice and $50 permit fee), all in one spot. *The renowned marble Scott Memorial Fountain is closed for the 2026 season!

Eastern Market, Detroit: Ideal for couples who love an edgier, colorful vibe with murals and maybe a celebratory drink at Eastern Market Brewing.

DIA (Detroit Institute of Arts): For a glamorous, dressed up feel. The white marble steps are iconic for that elegant, classic look.

The Belt, Detroit: A fun urban alleyway with city vibes. The Belt is tucked next to the Z Lot Parking Structure. It's filled with bold and beautiful art! On each end, you’ll find stained glass archways. It also features overhead string lights that especially show off as the sun begins to set. This location is perfect for a weekday shoot due to being very lively on the weekends or dates that large events are being held downtown.

Fisher Theatre, Detroit: If you want an indoor, sophisticated look. Think marble, golden elevators, and a timeless, classy feel.

Spicer’s Orchard, Detroit: Perfect in early spring for apple blossoms or in fall for apple picking vibes.

Cork & Gable, Detroit: Perfect for a cozy yet stylish vibe. Think casual chic, like a fun date night outfit with your favorite boots or jacket, paired with a partner’s polished casual. The drinks they make aren't just tasty, they're beautiful!

27th Letter Bookstore, Detroit: Ideal spot for book lovers! This setting pairs beautifully with a soft, romantic look. Maybe a flowy dress or even your fave jeans and a sweater!

Book Tower, Detroit: This iconic downtown building has historic architecture, intricate details, grand arches, and so much character. To reserve a session, you’ll need a signed agreement and payment in full at least one week in advance. Sessions are limited to public spaces on the first and second floors, and you’ll need a valid driver’s license to check in with security for a vendor badge. Book tower requires a one hour minimum for photo sessions and it's $500 an hour. Sessions are available Monday – Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Engagement Session Tips

As you prepare for your engagement session, here are some helpful tips!

CLEAN YOUR RING!

I will be photographing your gorgeous diamond! This means that this would be a perfect opportunity to have your ring cleaned so that it's clear of dirt and other build-up that may be visible through a macro lens!

HAIR & MAKEUP

If you were considering getting your hair and makeup done, this is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself! A lot of my Brides-To-Be intentionally book their wedding makeup trial the same date as their engagement session. Do whatever you feel comfortable with! I love to encourage my clients to plan a fun date with their partner after our session since they’re already all dressed up and out on the town!

THE TIMELINE

I always arrive a few minutes early to engagement sessions so that I can scope out the location and find light that will be flattering on my couples! Because we are racing the sun and cannot shoot after it has set, I recommend leaving 15-30 minutes earlier than you originally planned just to be safe!

OUTFITS

I recommend at least 2-3 outfits for your engagement session to ensure that we have variety in your gallery. During one of the outfit changes, while I wait, I’ll photograph your rings!

DRESS IT UP

There is no such thing as too dressed up!! The camera loves runway-esque apparel and so do I! Most of my clients choose to bring one “wow” dressy outfit and then another slightly more casual outfit that has a “date night” feel.

- The goal is COORDINATING outfits instead of MATCHING! I recommend that you avoid both partners wearing WHITE as a top. White doesn’t allow for any contrast in your images.

- Guys, I recommend that you avoid patterns that are smaller than a dime! These small patterns can create strange visual effects in a digital camera. I also recommend avoiding graphic tees and tennis shoes!

- Gals, I recommend that you wear something that flatters the parts of you that you love the most and also allows you to be extremely confident! If you are uncomfortable when you look in the mirror (only like the way you look from one angle), then that probably isn’t the best outfit choice for you. I want you to be really confident in your outfit, because I know that you will love your portraits so much more if you’re not worrying about how your clothes fit.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH!

You're going to be amazing models! This session is all about documenting your love! It's meant to feel laid back & fun! The couples who are usually most nervous are the couples who totally rock their session! So be encouraged and get excited!!
